FAQ

As a yorkie breeder, it seems that I get asked the same questions over and over.  So, I created the Frequently Asked Questions Page, in hopes that it will answer some of the frequent questions about Southern Yorkies and Yorkies as a breed.  If you do not see the answer you are looking for, feel free to email me.  I look forward to talking yorkie soon!!

  • WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?    I am located on the South Carolina coast, in beautiful Conway, SC.
  • WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT? Paypal is required for the $100.00 deposit, but cash ONLY is required for the final payment.
  • HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE LITTERS OF PUPPIES? Typically, I have around 6-8 litters a year. All of my Dams’ heat have synced up, so when one comes into heat, they ALL come into heat.
  • WHAT BREED PUPPIES DO YOU SELL? Yorkshire Terriers
  • DO YOU GIVE A WRITTEN HEALTH GUARANTEE?  Yes, I guarantee my pups until one (1) year of age against life threatening congenital or hereditary defects. To validate the health guarantee, Buyer must have their new puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within five (5) days from the date puppy leaves my home, and all vaccinations, health exams, etc. must be kept current.
  • DO YOU SHIP YOUR PUPPIES VIA CARGO OR VAN TRANSPORT? No, I do not ship my puppies in a community van or cargo.  They are just too small to go in the “cargo” section of a plane.
  • DO YOU HAVE A LAP NANNY? Yes, I do. I will ship my puppies via my lap nanny only.  I know her and she is VERY familiar with the needs of tiny dogs.  Her carrier is sanitized before and after each puppy she delivers.
  • ARE PUPPY PRICES NEGOTIABLE? Each puppy is priced individually depending on conformation, quality, desirable features, gender, color and bloodline. A HUGE amount of time, effort and money are put into raising healthy quality puppies. I do my research and feel the prices I’m asking are very reasonable and reflect the quality puppies I am offering, prices are NON-negotiable.
  • AT WHAT AGE DO YOU LET YOUR PUPPIES GO TO THEIR NEW HOMES? Typically, I let my puppies go to their new homes between 9-16 weeks. If a puppy is slower to mature or smaller than his/her litter mates, then I will keep that one longer.
  • DO YOU NAME YOUR PUPPIES BEFORE SELLING THEM? Yes, each puppy is given a “temporary name.”  This begins to teach the puppy name recognition. Of course, you are welcome to change it once the puppy is yours.
  • DO YOU ALLOW PEOPLE TO VISIT YOUR KENNEL? For safety reasons, I do NOT allow people to visit my “kennel” because it’s my house. The adult dogs have their own room and the Puppy Nursery is located across the hall from my bedroom, for quick access.  I would be glad to give you references from my Veterinarian, Groomer, and previous people that have purchased my puppies.
  • HOW ARE THE DOGS MANAGED AT YOUR HOME? I had custom “Rainbow Row Runs” built for my adult dogs and my puppies are kept in playpens in the nursery.  All dogs and puppies live inside my home. I only allow two- three Adult dogs per Rainbow Row run and ONE (1) Dam per whelping area.
  • HOW DO YOU MEET THE PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND SOCIAL NEEDS OF YOUR DOGS AND PUPPIES? 1. Optimal diet (Dogs are only fed 4.5-5 star dog food at all times) 2. Fresh water and Air (Dogs are encouraged to play outside in the grass daily, weather permitting)  3. Adequate sleep (Each dog has his/her own “woobie” to promote optimal sleep) 4. Appropriate place and opportunity to eliminate (Dogs may eliminate inside the home on the Trinkle Turf or outside in a designated area.) 5. Appropriate veterinary care 6. Regular physical exercise
  • ARE BOTH SIRE AND DAM ON SITE? Yes, all Sire and Dams are in my home at all times.
  • HAVE THE PARENTS AND PUPPIES BEEN SEEN BY A LICENSED VETERINARIAN? Yes, the Sire and Dam have been seen by a Vet before being bred.  The puppies are seen by a Veterinarian before going to their new home. The veterinarian’s findings, including a compete Wellness Exam and documentation is given to the new owners when the puppy is sold.
  • HOW LONG DO YOU OFFER GUIDANCE/ ASSISTANCE ON YOUR PUPPIES WITH THE NEW OWNER?  I offer lifetime support for my puppies and dogs.  I want you to contact me with questions or concerns throughout the dog’s life.
  • DO YOU OFFER REFERENCES FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN, GROOMER, OR PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED PUPPIES? Yes, absolutely.  I would be glad to give you this information, just ask.
  • DO YOU SELL PUPPIES TO PET STORES OR UNKNOWN BUYERS ON THE INTERNET? No, I do not sell ANY dogs or puppies to pet stores. And I require that I meet every new Puppy Owner in person, No Exceptions.
  • IF THE PUPPY DOESN’T WORK OUT, CAN I BRING IT BACK? Yes, all puppies/ dogs may be returned to me with No Questions asked for the life of the dog. Monies will NOT be refunded, but I will always accept the canine back.
  • HOW MUCH ARE YOUR MALE AND FEMALE YORKIES? Pricing starts at $2,050 for a traditional, toy size male yorkie.  Females are typically priced $500.00 higher. Of course, the smaller the yorkie, the higher the price and the more unique/ rare colored yorkies are also priced higher.
  • DO YOU OFFER A  NEW OWNER PUPPY PACK FOR EACH PUPPY? Yes, each puppy pack includes a variety of items to make the transition to the new home a seamless one.  Each puppy pack is individualized for the needs of each specific puppy.
  • DO YOU SELL MICRO, TEACUP, AND/OR TOY SIZE YORKIE? Yes, sort of.  “Micro, Teacup, and Toy” are all adjectives describing the predicted SIZE of yorkie as an adult.  The actual breed of the dog remains the same: Yorkie.  The terminology used can vary from Breeder to Breeder, so be sure and ask each Breeder how THEY define each size. I define a Toy size yorkie as 5 pounds and up. A teacup yorkie is defined as a yorkie between the sizes of 3-4.99 pounds.  A micro yorkie is a yorkie that is under 3 pounds as an adult.  I do NOT breed specifically for teacup or micro yorkies, but I do get them. They are typically the runt in a large litter or the bloodline just produces smaller yorkies.
  • MALE OR FEMALE YORKIE PUPPY? I, personally, prefer a male dog to a female.  Male dogs are more affectionate, loyal and tend to bond stronger to 1 person. Female dogs tend to bond equally with multiple people. Male dogs can be harder to potty train and must be neutered EARLY to prevent marking, but once the male dog understands where to go potty, he WILL go potty there and there only with minimal accidents.  Females will learn quicker where to go potty, but will “stealth poop/ pee” if she doesn’t feel like holding it.
