Exotic Yorkie Colors
Chocolate, Parti, Blonde Yorkies…Oh My!
Long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away- well not really that far, still on the same planet, there were ONLY traditional colored yorkies. And then new colors began to emerge….These colors weren’t really “new.” They were just not spoken of or registered until now. Some breeders even destroyed these pups with odd markings. Within the past five to eight years American Kennel Club has chosen to acknowledge and register these unique beauties. To register a unique colored dog, one should take multiple pictures of the dog and submit the 5 generation lineage when registering them AKC. This can not be done on line.
Because it is significantly harder to achieve these unique colors and much more expense is incurred to document their authenticity, they are more costly than traditional yorkies. This page is dedicated to give you an example of what the different colors look like specific to MY KENNEL. The only color that I have not been able to express in a litter is chocolate, probably because that is my favorite!
At any rate, before you purchase a yorkie that has unique or exotic coloring, request to view the pedigree of BOTH parents, the AKC DNA certificate of the Sire, and the Color and Coat genetics scan completed by a company like Animal Genetics. If the Breeder can not produce such documents, then be careful.
